Also, some old news that I forgot to share.  Earlier this summer, Lionsgate named me one of their official Hunger Games Fans of the Week.  You can see my interview here: leschermarketingdev.com/hunger…

I hope you're all doing well-- and don't forget, all of my patterns are available for free on HungerGamesDWTC.net: hungergamesdwtc.net/?page_id=3…

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to let you know that I've started a new blog over on blogspot, so I probably won't be updating my dA one too frequently.

I will still be posting all of my latest creations in my gallery, just my musings will be in a new place.

Check it out here:

So last night I photoshopped a couple Hunger Games pictures in celebration of Jennifer Lawrence getting the role of Katniss.  Well, holy cow did they ever spread!  I'm not even close to the calibur of many of the AMAZING digital artists creating Hunger Games images, but thanks so much to everyone who has fav'd and RT'd my work!

I even got featured on websites!

Seriously the internet community of fans continues to astound me!

You're all awesome.

As I said in my earlier post, I have been kind of stuck in where to go next.  I've been toying with the idea of making another Happy Potter house blanket for a friend of mine or making a second pap art blanket with my Catching Fire pattern-- but neither idea  really excited me the way the Mockingjay and District by District blanket did.  I'm still definitely stuck in the Hunger Games mindset, and I'm not feeling like I want to leave these books yet-- but I don't want to keep retracing my own steps.

So I thought last night (I have actually be thinking about this particular character since last June when I finished the first book in the series) about Rue.

So that's where I'm going-- what I'm doing: a tribute to Rue.  The girl who, for me, symbolized everything wrong with war and pop culture, and the inhumanity of man.

This one will take a while, and unlike my last project, I don't want to post any in progress pictures.  So if you don't hear from me for a while, it's because of this project.

I'll probably be working on some other side projects (for my own sanity mostly), and will post anything I finish.

Thanks for being awesome!

Hi All,

First, a HUGE thank you to all of the awesome people who have watched/favorited/commented on my deviations in the last few weeks.  It would be an incredible understatement to say that I am extremely overwhelmed with the response my pieces have received.

You are *all* seriously fantastic.

With the completion of the District By District blanket, I am kind of at a loss of what to do next.. so I wanted to reach out to anyone out there who might happen to read this-- what would you like to see created in yarn?  I'm up for doing another Hunger Games piece, though other ideas will be considered as well!  I'm working on a down-time project for the next week or so (a baby blanket for a friend), so I'll take suggestions through next Sunday or so before making a final decision on what to do next!

Leave suggestions in the comments!

Best,

Shylah

Just a quick note while I'm going insane from excitement!  Today my mockingjay blanket was featured on The Hob, one of the top 10 Hunger Games fan sites on the web!  This is probably the coolest thing that has ever happened to me.   Linkage below:

So I joined deviantART five years ago in order to post a Harry Potter fanfic that I had written as an entry for mugglenet.com.  After I lost the contest (lol), I popped in now in then, but I haven't submitted anything new... until yesterday.

In the last five years, I've learned to crochet.  In the last six months I realized that I could crochet with multiple colors. (Though multiple might be an overstatement as I've only used two at most so far).  Then about a month ago I realized I could make my own charts when I couldn't find them anywhere else.

So armed with photoshop, a free online cross stitch pattern maker, and microsoft word, the Mockingjay Pin pattern was born-- which would lead to the creation of the Mockingjay Pin Pop Art Blanket.

Which leads us back here.

On a whim, I uploaded the picture of the Mockingjay blanket (along with a couple other Harry Potter pieces) to deviantART.  Since then I've received more messages, comments, and requests in 24 hours than in the last 5 years.  It has been incredible-- and insanely motivating.

Thank you to everyone who reached out in the last day to offer me words of encouragement-- you (and the deviantART community) totally ROCK.
